John Stuart Mill, a supporter of state provision popular and secular education at national scale in Victorian England, believed was means to foster human mind development, accounting also for the future progress mankind. Unlike other utilitarian thinkers, like Jeremy Bentham, Mill that state, specific circumstances, should supervise education, therefore guaranteeing its quality not only quantity. In this context, paper intends explore Mill’s position on line with his approach liberalism problems time. We will argue concept liberal transcended formal instruction schools.
